Hello, Family and Friends!

We’re less than three weeks away from the big day and are so excited to see you all!

We have a couple updates, reminders, and a very short poll for you to take that will help us with final planning:

Popham Beach State Park gathering in Phippsburg
Friday, August 9, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

You’re all invited to join us for a casual social gathering at Popham Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Maine. We’d love to catch up with you, especially since many of you are coming from out of state.

Details

  • Food: We’ll bring pizzas (including gluten-free and vegetarian), but please bring your own beverages and snacks. Also, the SaltyBoyz Food Truck sells food at the park until 4:00 p.m. Their menu isn’t posted, but it includes Asian street fries, fish tacos, vegetarian sandwiches, and “specialty” hot dogs (don’t ask us what that means), and they sometimes sell lobster (“lobstah” in the local dialect) rolls and pulled pork sandwiches.
  • Parking: Popham Beach is very popular, so the parking lot fills up very quickly in the mornings; also, there is very limited street parking. People start leaving around lunch time, so parking shouldn’t be an issue in the mid/late afternoon hours. If you decide to make a day of it at the beach, though, we recommend you get there by 9:00 a.m.
  • Will you be able to join us? Will you be eating pizza? Please take the poll below so we can make sure we have enough pizza.
  • How to find us: When you drive into the parking lot, go to the right and enter the beach near that set of changing rooms/bathrooms. Look for the large red umbrella.
  • Park fees: Because this is a state park, you will have to pay an entrance fee:

    Popham Beach seagull

Non-resident adults: $8; adult Maine residents: $6
Children 5 – 11 years old: $1.00; children under 5 are free
Non-residents 65 and older: $2; Maine residents 65 and older: free

  • Seagull (aka, flying rat) warning: If you see this thief and his friends (and you will), make sure to put your food in a secure bag (i.e., not plastic or paper and must be weighed down with something) when you walk away from your spot on the beach. This will help you avoid a seagull food melee.

Wedding reminders and updates

  • Please wear sensible shoes since we will be outside
  • We will be spraying for mosquitoes and ticks (with an all-natural treatment) before the wedding, but you may still want to wear insect repellent
  • We won’t have ushers seating people at the ceremony, nor will we have assigned seats at the reception, so please feel free to sit wherever you like. The one exception is that the first couple of rows at the reception will be reserved for family

Poll

Please take a quick poll to make sure you get properly wined and dined (or beered, cidered, or juiced/soda-ed):
  • Beach party

  • Wedding reception beverages

At the wedding reception, how many people in your party will be drinking any of the following beverages? (Please enter a number in the space provided. Leave blank for zero.)
